What's With My Name?

My parents named me Mathijs Lucas..... Mathijs??? How do you pronounce this name? Is it a spelling mistake? It is pronounced Ma-Tice..... but you can call me Thijs (Tice) for short. My name is Dutch for Matthew... so I am named after my daddy because his name is Matthew and my mommy is Dutch. Clever, huh? While Mommy and Daddy would like to take credit for this name, they really stole it from Matt Lauer from the Today show who named his son Mathijs at about the same time Mommy found out she was pregnant.

Hello World, I'm Here!

Hello World! I finally made it, Mommy and Daddy thought I would never come. Mommy had a good talk with me and made me realize that 4 days over due was plenty of time and that the world really isn't that scary. I wanted to come on a day of significance, I thought, "why not while the Red Sox are playing in the World Series?" Things were going as planned, Mommy labored and was doing well..... until I decided to change things up a bit and entered the birth canal "sunnyside up" with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck. I got myself into a big mess, so they had to take me out via a c-section. I really just wanted to get out to watch the ninth inning of the Sox game, I watched Jonathan Papelbon's save and witnessed my first Red Sox World Series sweep. I only hope that I can dance like Papelbon someday! Here are my specs: Weight: 8 lbs .8 oz Height 20 1/2 inches
